Set Mining in PLO8

This was a fascinating PLO8 table. Lot's of raising with A2XX, never figured out what markerdarker needed to raise but believe he bought in for $25 at least 6 times and also may have tilted Big Gray. The Chirio I have seen on FullTilt before but don't have good handle on his style but am quite sure he makes somewhat steady profit.

Glad set held up.
Was fascinated I was called by A2 + gutshot and A3 + bottom pair.

This morning looked at hand on cardplayer.coms Omaha Hands Calculator. The Chirio had a 38% expected return on hand as he was 54% to hit low and 20% to get high (I guess due to gutshot + backdoor flush).

Not the best Day

My Uncle who other than having bird legs is physically identical to me is terminally ill.

Buyers of my House had latest extension to find financing hit today without them securing a loan.

Got knocked out of Daily Double B on FullTilt after AK lost to AQ and JJ lost to AQ (suited) flop was T98 2 clubs and no one lays down flush draw on flop.

Bubbled the MATH after a bad beat.

Got knocked out of Daily Double A 21st, by an A5 against my 77 because he also had enough chips to risk call of 30k (4:3 on his money).

In Daily Double A I was ~8th with 700 to go but did not wield my stack effectively and did lose a couple of coinflips against desperate little stacks and their little pocket pairs.

Working on the Razz

Entered a cheap Razz SNG on Pokerstars last night. If I am going to play HORSE might as well work to improve my play in the 3 stud variants. Believe main thing that changes is pay attention to door cards they are altering your pot odds and don't let Razz tilt you when you get the hand of death.

Donkeys Have New King

In the Final Satellite before $200+$16 Sunday Night Horse a new Donkey King was crowned.

Hoyazo has claimed low budget HORSE has the most donkery but having seen 1st hand Friday's Bracelet satellite endgame play I would have to disagree. Will have to see how I fare against 136 runners including 6 pros in the Sunday Night HORSE.

Quite a Cooler

Been running poorly at PL and $3/$6 so dropped to lower limits in hopes of replenishing bankroll. Making 50 big bets in 115 hands is nice but where is this at the higher units?

Why do I keep doing This?

Early in Tournament Blinds very low relative to Starting stack.

EP or LP raises to (30-4) x BB
Bayne holding A-Q calls (Can also happen with AJ or At suited)
Rest of table folds
Flop
Q J rag
Initial raiser bets pot
Bayne holding TPTK min raises to find out where he stands.
Initial Raiser raises
Bayne having learned his TPTK is behind calls anyway rather than continuing in tournament with 2/3 Starting Stack
Initial raiser shows OverPair IGH.

Tinker to Evers to Chance for a MATH Cash

Serious Fonkery was afoot in the MATH. Hopefully Hoy has recovered from some of the sick beats dished out.

My QJ (but it was sooooted) outdrew rosinbagger9's AK when I turned a straigght for 1st final table elimination. Which was just a preview of events to come.

Sitting 3rd at money bubble in BB omega_man_99 limped UTG. Looking at T 6 checked to see a free flop. Flop came down A T 6 and I was sure omega_man_99 had played an A-rag. I bet, he raised and I pushed only to learn his rag was a 6 (eek) apparently Pokerstars Fonkey protector was enabled and I sucked out a T on the turn sending omega_man to a distant 4th. He recovered nicely for 2nd, making bdidde the true victim of TurnStars at the MATH.

Thanks for hosting Hoy.

TILT

Yesterday did not see a 6 figure deposit to my bank account due to home sale apparently falling out of escrow.

Not sure yet if buyer backed out due to terms worsening in mortgage market or if mortgage company he was using bailed on buyer.

Got home and while beginning to relax for evening made some comment to my 12 year old daughter that brought such great offense that she hit me upside the head and broke my glasses frame.

Despite this bad frame of mind I played poker. Jacks R OK took the 1st bad beat of evening I delivered in the Mookie, a trail of bad decisions than punished some but mostly scattered my bankroll on various O8 tables before I made "decision" to play $1/$2 PL Omaha on FullTilt.
Bought in at minimum and found a groove of playing solid Omaha. Watched Lee Watkinson sit down (which kept table full) and on his 2nd $80 buy-in he built his stack up overs $1100, including ~$800 pot where he had an overpair against a flopped boat and rivered his 2 outer.

Managed to play solidly enough to return my bankroll to day's starting point and went to bed.

Now I just need to figure out what to do with the house.

Got AA and QQ in BB at final table but didn't get any action, biggest hand for me at Final Table was when an A8 held up in BB against an open push from button from A4. There was a lot of A rag play last night at math so all of a sudden an 8 looked like a monster kicker in that spot.

Life Tilt Home Stretch

Limited Poker Content:

On the calendar February is the shortest month of the year. When you are selling a house in Northern California to a 1st time home buyer it can be the longest. I accepted the offer the 30th of January, there was of course an inspections contingency and a financing contingency. It’s been 15 years since I bought a home for 1st time and despite my uncommon name I had multiple items on my credit report that reflected badly that I had nothing to do with. Buyer of my home has a common First and Last Name so has had quite a struggle to get credit report cleaned up and get loan approval. Think the bankruptcies of a couple marginal lenders in February brought more scrutiny at all lenders on all loans. Am in the home stretch as realtor called minutes ago confident that loan approval will go through and next week closing will occur.

I am looking forward to making rent payment without a mortgage payment next month. Will pay off loan on one of the cars and only remaining debt will be car payments for a year on a 0.9% loan. Hopefully wife does not get fired up to buy another house.

I finally lost the last remnants of my once less meager Full Tilt bankroll. Spent early part of month playing higher limits than I belong, and lost 4 pots very stupidly on a single day where I had Nut Omaha hands folded due to ISP timeouts. I need to just give up playing Full Tilt after 1st time this happens in a day. Prefer most things about Full Tilt but have to recognize playing from home I never have problems with timeouts on Poker Stars beyond an occasional delay and there grant of a few extra seconds on a disconnect is enough to prevent folding winning hands.

I will have to grind on Full Tilt once rake back is paid to see if I can restore bankroll but will probably have to restrict play to win I’m in office outside normal work window.
