Pushing up against project milestones sucks!
I have managed to get home from work in 8-9 range each day this week but positive of being a contractor means direct accumulation of extra money or vacation time. Had to opt for extra vacation time just in case I can get through the minefield poker has become and win Main Event Seat.
I watched a bit of the Mookie and saw 2 chipleaders flipping with ~12 left for ~60 BBs each.
I am just amazed that 22-66 will be re-raisng or jamming when set mining odds are still available.
It is like the super-turbo play has spread everywhere,

Bayne-
I'm going to write a post about it, but lucko had been pushing and pushing a lot. I told myself that I was not interested in finishing in the money; it was first or nothing. By calling his shove (and I was pretty sure it was a drawing hand, not a paired hand because he had done the same thing before with AQ, and other A rag hands against other players) that I was:
a. slightly better than 50/50
b. solidly going to be cemented as chip leader
The gamble paid off.
Grats on taking it down.
I just thought you were both deep enough to set mine.
I had looked away and then saw lucko was gone. When I replayed hand I saw result 1st and assumed you had set mined and lucko had pushed with 2 overs + gutter.
Right or wrong, he pushed into my 3bet, which I would have preferred to not to have him done. Had he called, I probably would have folded that QT [I think] flop.
I doubt you would have folded on flop, I am pretty sure it was QJ6
I actually don't remember. All I remember is getting all in twice on coin flips vs. him. One was 88 vs. AQ and the other was the hand in question. The results were that I continued onward.
Are you folding to his shove there? Given that he'd been aggro-ing it up a ton in prior action?
In his defense, I'm pretty sure neither of those hands would make his top 5 worst played hands of the night.
You have asked what I would do pre in a situation I am never in pre.
Holding 66 in blinds with those stack sizes I would call Lucko's raise pre-flop as set mining odds exist.
If I had 10-20 BB stack I shove on Lucko pre.
So assuming no 6 falls, you're basically check / folding the flop to a Q T flop, huh? He's all but guaranteed to cbet there. I'm guessing you're really tight in 3betting when you get deeper stacks like that?
On the reverse, then it is probably equally wrong to 4bet shove in that spot.
And don't get me wrong; I'm coming from a cash game background, where I can rebuy at will - and this is perhaps a difference between cash & tourneys. If I see a guy continually putting pressure on me and the blinds, I'm going to pick an appropriate spot and fight back in cash.
I love the "slightly better than 50/50" line. Probably my favorite part of these comments. Donkey logic at its finest.
Why do you have to go there, Lucko? Name calling is not nice. You called a shove with AQo in a prior hand. I'm pretty sure you would have called AJ+.
LOL @ your logic on why your play wasn't donktastic. "I saw you get it in with Ax vs a shorty, so I knew you had Ax when you 4 bet shipped a monster stack on me. I'm obv a favorite here so I'll snap call and fist pump!"
Pretty great stuff! Congrats on TOC seat, GL!
You know what, Lucko? Next time, don't overship on a drawing hand. If you show up with AA, you have a legit gripe. Don't get all pissy because you get it all in with AK and lose. If I'm getting it all in with 66 and losing there, I'm closing up shop & good night.
I'm shipping a bunch of overpairs there too. You got lucky I had AK there as its the only hand you are ever ahead of in that spot. You thinking that you are slightly ahead is nothing but donkey poker.
Shit happens tho. You need to get lucky to win any poker tournament. Last night the luck was on your side.
Sucko's range for 4-bet shove is roughly 24o-AA. Give or take. :P. Hissy fit in comments is amusing though.
"You got lucky I had AK there" Sounds good. As wrong as it may be to not flat mid pairs (don't remember the positioning), I think it's likely equally as wrong to shove AK into a 3bet. As you point out, I'm calling a lot of pairs there too, and instacalling AA, KK, AK. You think I'm shipping <AQ? If so, then you're exactly 50/50 on the expected return. If not, then you're behind on that shove.
And when I say sounds good. Let's agree to disagree. I don't want a fight. Just defending my play.
LOL @ you folding AQ there, but super snap calling 66. <3 donky logic.
Priceless
Greatest $10 MTT rant ever?
I just love how people expect pro decisions in 10 minute level, winner take all donkaments......... These two literally spent 24+ hours rationalizing their plays, writing out detailed explanations, and at the end of the day it all doesn't matter in a $10, 10 minute level luckfest. WHO CARES! That guy won, AK lost, game over.........
Amen to that, brother!
