Props to Trauma

Oh the irony last night when Traumapoker eliminated that donkey Waffles holding KK. Of course each week waffles misplayed hand but failed to suck out like a hoover this week.

So Disappointed

I didn't really care if I got Platinum, I wanted SuperNova but I came so close. Worst part is 14 more spots and the tard would have forced himself to earn 10k VPP on PokerStars next month.
I final tabled the $4k PLO for 1st time in a while but did not come close to collecting on prop bet with Lucko.
Congrats to Evy for taking down the skillz. Heads up match wasn't that interesting as 8:1 or so chip lead forced me to take ridiculous chances and my desperate oesd did not river against Evy's slowplayed flopped trips. Quality of PLO play in skillz has improved since 1st tourney, people still overplay big pairs and occaisonally big trips in hand. If you plug some hands into a pokerstove or other calculator you will see that a pair + gutshot has odds to call a pot bet against an overpair.
Mookie is tonight, I would urge Pureprophet, pvanharibo, Surflexus and NumbBono to be only entrants to help keep prize fund low in unlikely event Waffles wins.

Lame Brag of the week

I have other skillz!

No luck in chess.

Mondays

While others were dragged to see Bruce, I stayed home and was multi-table tourney aggro-donk. I did manage to ghey cash in DD A and DD B for a ghey double cash bonus. I also had a ghey cash in 3r after losing a race with 88 vs A9o when river 8h gave opponent ghey 4 flush.
Finished off with a ghey cash in stars $50k when TPTK on flop was no match for AA.
Despite my continued belief that Waffles has no chance of winning prop bet I took out a $10 insurace policy with Lloyd's of NY. I am now effectively getting 9:2 on waffles impending failure.
On positive side I played 6 Brawl Chippies with 3 seats won and 3 $750k Chippies winning 2 seats. I played Brawl for 2.5 hours getting 1 KO. WTF.
MATH is at 10 Pacific, Tilt's shootout structure is ghey so I will probably skip.

Have a good weekend!

Now I can relax and take family to Monterrey tomorrow.
Best part is this time bankroll stayed 4 figures whole month while clearing.

Notes: From Rail

I was watching TwoBlackAces as he ran deep in 50-50 when I saw this player comment:

MayorofBangkok: can we get some postflop play here?

Thought it was funny because it was so true. Even 50-50 which has one of better structures of online tournies loses multi-street betting once itm.

Other funny chat I saw was:

kyledon999 (Observer): MNbassmaster can u actually stake me 5 im good for it, sharkscope me

dude's sharkscope is better than mine, but 2% ROI is a little thin to make $5 last.

Sleepless Nights

Wife and I are up until Midnight and she has to wake up at 4 to prepare for EEG. Test is routine and since neurologists said no matter what is found treatment plan won't change. But there is possibility the test might show what has caused seizures.

Sleeping (really sleeping) with my wife has always been tricky, she talks in her sleep, occaisonally sleep walks and has always had sudden movements. Sunday night I woke up at 3 because I felt some spasm. I felt need to stay awake to observe and fortunately wife seemed normal. 20 minutes after I woke up my own left arm had muscle spasm and I realized I was awake for nothing, such a bad beat.

Played Stars $50k and finished 50th when I ran AK into AA. With 150 left and down to a few BBs I tried Chad's sticky note technique.

Also got a little deep in turbo Fiddy but went out 12th. I learned I can't win with KJ or beat KJ when I called a pushmonkey who had powerful QTs and flopped a flush against me. (Thanks for rail JD).

Skills is Stud H/L on Tuesday.

I will probably miss due to this:
Plug-In 2008 - Convention & Exposition

I noticed on front bumber of my Prius a round opening the size of electrical plug. Have always suspected that original intent was to supplement with electricity. I doubt I would splurge and pay the $5k to convert but if batteries ever needed replacement I would have to investigate. Cars don't rust out here.

This is an automated message sent from Full Tilt Poker.

Full Tilt Poker Tournament #54356686
$1 Million Guarantee Satellite
Buy-In: $100.00 + $9.00
66 players
Total Prize Pool: $6600.00
Start Date: July 19 10:45 PM ET

Dear bayne_s

You have won an entry to tournament #45323709 $1 Million Guarantee. As you are already registered for this tournament, we havecredited 535.00 T$ (the value of the buy-in) to your account.

Congratulations!

Thank you for participating.

I had been wondering if I got $ (like we used to) or $T when winning seat for tourney already registered for.

MiamiDon and I have been chatting lately about the possibility of making consistent enough money in sats to be a "sat tourney pro". Smokkee might want to consider possibility if he ever gets rakeback from Tilt. Today as experiment I focused on playing only SNG sats and $1M sat for a net +$T618. I then had to play Turbo Fiddy out of habit.

Regulated markets

LJ pointed me to KidDynamite after I mentioned I was gambling on Lehman. Why Kid did not become a must read after Alan pointed me to (late edit) his classic Blowjobs & Mortgages post is beyond me.

I decided yesterday that likely impact of announcement of rules enforcement on short selling stock would lead to a momentary bump up in price of stock and options expiration week offered an opportunity for cheap leverage. Sadly I did not have same level of conviction over this that I had over discount window opening to keep liquid. Already cashed out a small profit and am freerolling other 5 contracts for couple days.

I find it funny that the Goverment never chooses to regulate the market when the bubble develops but wants to regulate later inevitable collapse. I guess because I made a speculative market play I am evil too.

I overplayed 88 to exit Mookie at Final Table bubble. I had two small cashes in $4k and 50-50 but exited Stars 50k early when I picked up KK early, raised big pre (to 400) to try to not give set mining odds to little pairs but went out on 8 high flop that UTG had limp called with 44 hitting set.

Million Sats

I played last nights $1 Million Satellite with Cmitch, Hoy, jd schellnutt , LJ, Lucko and MiamiDon (apologies to anyone I missed) and earned Title "Last Blogger Standing".
Don was at my table his whole tourney run, Lucko joined soon after and attempted to tilt me with insults. I am of course now untiltable.
lucko21: lol @ untitlable
lucko21: 10 minutes u could have ur whole roll on the table

I had planned to play FTOPS #2 satellites until I built the $T up to 535 but guess this route will have to do. As long as I don't spew off my bankroll by Sunday I'll stay registered.

I also used up some points to get into July's Turbo Takedown on Stars.

Mid-Year Bonus

The points tard and I do not have a wager for clearing mid-year bonus. Between his quarter end and my chauffeur duties neither of us were confident in how much time could be devoted to poker.

End result is a much more leisurely calender especially compared to January.

While still being on pace to clear the bonus by the end of the month.

Positive result is I do not expect to go to brink of busting before clearing bonus as I did in January.

Skillz Game is tonight but the wife likes to do big grocery shopping trip on payday at Trader Joe's and/or Whole Foods so doubt I will be home in time. Once iphone III with online poker capability is out I will be able to sit in car rather than wondering why we must peruse every aisle.

Saturdays with DrP

My favorite tourney of the week is today! Don't miss it.
Went out of the $25k 2nd hour running KK into AA, left stars $50K as shorty jamming AQ into KK.
I took 73rd in Stars $3r but to quote Hoy "that thing is the biggest donkfest of all time man. you insult yourself by even running in it."
MiamiDon also told me that tourney poker is all luck.

He may be right, I am not sure, winner of 50-50 showed AA 4 of 1st 15 hands at final table and got action 3 times.

PokerStars Hand of the Day

Congrats to Iggy for cashing in Main Event.
Apologies about forgetting to mention yesterday the longest running feud amongst bloogers:

Blinders v Hoy. The 1st conflict predates my entry into blogging, but have seen them argue over play of hands, hammer and what constitutes cheating.
If any old timers have a longer running feud let me know?

Am I really to believe players on Bodog are worse than players on RiverStars?

I managed to exit 25k and 3r to river suckouts as well.

I have managed to exit Turbo Fiddy 3 times in the last week losing to a K-rag that called a jam so maybe I have to learn to play it like it is a monster.

Relief

Wife had neurologist visit yesterday, other than doctor using word "epilepsy" visit went fine. I thought hearing "easily treatable epilepsy" was good. They believe as long as wife takes meds their will not be another occurrence and once the three months required by California DMV pass she will sign off on restoring drivers license. It was strange two weeks but other than new role as temporary chauffeur things seem back to normal.

Congrats to Hoy on another decent MTT score, now would you find a way to end your feud with $mokkee ? I don't want to go spiritual here but life is too short for hate, it's way too short for continued swipes at each other.

That being said I can understand the Perticelli v Donkette feud continuing.

Since wife had seizure I have managed two top 3s in MTTs and I have to believe that two biggest factors behind it are I don't get mad when a bad play by others burns me (I make a note but nothing more) and I have reviewed some of my tournament plays and given more thought to key hands than in the past.

I anticipate playing in Mookie tonight, 7 Pacific.

I extended a tourney streak in Stars $50k losing with AA to KK. 3 straight days I have exited with AA against KK in an MTT. Today was different in that I only got 1/3 of my stack in pre-flop rather than all in pre-flop.

Skillz is HOSE 6:30 (Pacific) on FullTilt. Wife has two follow up doctor's appointments tomorrow so I may or may not join in on the fun. Expectation is that root cause of seizure will remain a mystery and that each passing day makes it less likely another seizure will occur.

There is 29200 in pot

bayne_s: ????

PkerStars will let me fold but I opt against.

Checking seems lame, I am dog against TT, 99, T8, 98 and 85, I am flipping against AA-JJ, I am a favorite against 2 overs.

Question becomes how much to bet?

As Omatard I hold firmly to belief of no free cards.
As engineer involved in board design I spend my workday looking for worst case scenarios and trying to make sure design is "robust" enough to work to 99.999% uptime required by phone companies.

I jam and now wonder is it my omatardness or engineer side that takes the route of trying to prevent bad things to happen by allowing a card to come?

On home front wife's headaches are now intermittent and milder. Her tolerance to light is better and she has found bus/light rail route she likes to Santana Row (her favorite restaurant & shopping area). Daughter still does not like walking involved to get to stops, on Saturday upon return home she said "Why couldn't he (meaning me) have seizure instead of you, Mommy?" I believe she really means she wishes her Mom could still drive her around. It's not easy being me.

As I write this post I am playing the Turbo Fiddy, I have seen 4 flops in 74 hands and don't think I have made any bad pre-flop folds. I did overplay 77 from BB against early position limper with JJ but sucked out. Went out 46th with blinds at 500/1000, I raised from SB to 6500 and BB called off all but 300 chips with K2. My Ace did not hold. Turbo Fiddy is incredible near bubble.

Will play MATH tonight despite it not being turbo. Wouldn't a blogger turbo be a blast?

Bankroll Managment System

LJ surprised me in IM tonight by letting me know she attempted to fly without id which led to the following conversation:

LJ (7/3/2008 4:43:05 PM): i am going to play 8s, i guess
Bayne (7/3/2008 4:43:43 PM): what are 8s?
LJ (7/3/2008 4:43:58 PM): 8:00 tournaments
Bayne (7/3/2008 4:44:28 PM): 25k 3r
LJ (7/3/2008 4:44:36 PM): y
Bayne (7/3/2008 4:45:27 PM): 65k and 32k?
LJ (7/3/2008 4:45:34 PM): yeah

I decided to skip the 65k as it seemed pricey for bankroll/skill. (LJ of course cashed, she is machine)

I roached in the $3r cashing for $21.41 on my $9 investment when A9 lost to 97 all in pre-flop.

In Tilt's $32k I went out 18th jamming QQ into a big stack's QQ who smooth called and BB's AK that hit.

During Star's $25k I got slaughtered playing cash PLO and took a peak at cashier.

Fawk, I have finally bled off my $3k O8 cash.

Luckily I have a managment system that accounts for this:
