Mookie FT

I had 3 premium hands in Mookie:
KK that took Piratelawyer out.
QQ that ran into Columbo's KK.
And AK that lost to HeffMike's 88 at Final Table.

Most of my chips were gathered with less than stellar hands including the 32o that defeated Chippy when I made priced in call near bubble. 8th will have to do.

My efforts in $4k saw me get near money but not cash. $4k is a minefield but tonight a couple of beats were spectacular:

I was a big stack until this hand:

Tuesday Checklist

1. Rail on marginal play that eliminated me from MATH. I expect most bloggers not to be able to fold an Ace after button raising but A3o? WTF

2. Am I still

?

3. Make progress on work projects.

4. Continue quest for Bodog TOC at 6:05 Pacific.

5. Continue quest for Full Tilt TOC playing Stud at 6:30 Pacific.

6. Pay enough attention to American Idol/DWTS to not piss off daughter.

Vegas trip report

WSOP-C PLO had 126 entrants. Lee Watkinson, Allen Cunningham, Eskimo Clark and Jason Stern were the pros I recognised. None were at my starting table.

My starting table was very good for my style of PLO as pretty much the only pre-flop raises were by AA hands. Starting table was pretty bad for me as I could not hit a flop, (only set I hit at 1st table was bottom set on 679 flop with 2 hearts). Other aspect of the starting table was 2 of the AA raisers always went to showdown with unimproved AA and there was a Scandi at table willing to bet hard with top pair and a draw and he would call river bets with just top pair (and sadly win).

4th level I got moved to a new table where Eskimo Clark had amassed a huge chip stack, 5k was starting stack, I was sadly around 3k and Eskimo had ~30k. He moves rather well for someone who had stroke at Razz final table last summer but does still have some of the frozen features of a stroke victim. I managed to double up once at new table flopping bottom set and nut flush draw against top pair + gut but went out when UTG raised 7664 (1s) into my AKKJ (same suit), I reraised and we got all in pre but he turned a 6 after a nice 992 flop.

I had a few nice craps rolls but I kept running into Recess' proteges shooting before and after me. 2nd Sickest sequence was 3 roll shooter, (craps, point, out), 2 (point, out) shooters, then I had a 17 roll turn where I hit 4 points and collected the fire bet, and was folled by another 2 roll shooter. Sickest sequence was a dude walked up to the table and asked for a $10k marker which was gone in ~7 minutes.

PLO Saturday a little different this week

Instead of attempting a repeat performance here:

I will give this a try:

I have never played PLO live. The only time I've handled four cards live was durring blogger HORSE at MGM last June. I am psyched about new adventure.
PLO $4k went badly, out early on oesd + nut flush draw + backdoor flush against straight on 7TJ flop, I was 5:3 favorite but could not improve.
PLO tourney on stars I went out early flopping top 2 pair and nut flush draw but lost to 2nd pair + gutshot that jammed me.
Suited cards were gold in Riverchasers. I defended my BB against lucko's button raise with K7 suited and managed to flop top pair, sadly so did lucko with a better kicker but I rivered 2 pair.
Later pebble78 made a suspicously sized UTG raise of BamBamCans BB, so I jammed my 99 and got called and rivered when A8s rivered a boat. As conspiracy theories floated through my head about wtf did pebble expect BamBam to chip dump as shorty? I misread hand in BB thinking I had 55 so called an UTG raise. After 559 flop realized woops that was 56. I checked and waited for c-bet that didn't come. When turn Ace came I jammed only to have pebble river me again when river Ace bailed out AJ.
BamBam being from Canada and pebble being from US casts some doubt on my conspiracy theory.
I think pokahDave raised a suited A6 UTG against BigPirate and was rewarded after calling a jam when he flopped a 6 and rivered a 6 against bigger pp. To be 3rd rwarded playing questionabl suited hand at table.
But for some perspective on real stupidity in action click here.

More PLO fun

Drizz had asked some questions.

I keep finishing 20-30 in $4k PLO this week, I mainly ask myself if I am happy with the decisions I made that led to exit. For the most part hands are like this one:

I am a shorty sitting 20 of 23

Dealt to bayne_s [As 5s Qc Ac]
wammie has 15 seconds left to act
wammie folds
bungaloso folds
dacro42 folds
Juice is Runnin has 15 seconds left to act
Juice is Runnin is sitting out

bayne_s raises to 2,800
cqsta folds
Juice is Runnin has returned
BennyKillPot folds
rosco136 raises to 8,800
bayne_s raises to 9,700, and is all in
rosco136 calls 900
bayne_s shows [As 5s Qc Ac]
rosco136 shows [8c Ad Ks Js]

In general all in pre with AA is a high variance way to play PLO but being ds against his no live suits I have a rare 3:1 pre-flop edge.

*** FLOP *** [Kd 2s Tc]
*** TURN *** [Kd 2s Tc] [8h]
*** RIVER *** [Kd 2s Tc 8h] [Qh]
bayne_s shows a pair of Aces
rosco136 shows a straight, Ace high
rosco136 wins the pot (19,800) with a straight, Ace high

I also had a fun hand in Dookie:

Dealt to bayne_s [Qh Ks Tc Jh]
Astin folds
pvanharibo sits down
pvanharibo adds 12,005
Donkette sits down
Donkette adds 4,298
twoblackaces sits down
twoblackaces adds 2,267
jimdniacc sits down
jimdniacc adds 5,982
Mattazuma folds
bayne_s raises to 700
pokerenthusiast folds
ScottMc calls 500 Hint Scott the blue button on the left is "Fold"
*** FLOP *** [Jd Th Kh]
ScottMc bets 1,500
bayne_s raises to 2,195, and is all in
ScottMc calls 695
bayne_s shows [Qh Ks Tc Jh]
ScottMc shows [3d As 3h Qc]

I am 57% favorite on this flop against the made straight. Scott is 37%. 6% tie. Lesson of playing shit hand in PLO is that you can catch a dream flop and still be a dog.

*** TURN *** [Jd Th Kh] [8s]
*** RIVER *** [Jd Th Kh 8s] [Ts]
bayne_s shows a full house, Tens full of Kings
ScottMc shows a straight, Ace high.

Mookie did not go that well, built up to a Top 10 Stack then raised AK and had to call a priced in reraise only to be against AA. I threw away some chips in EP with 99 when I got bluffed off by an unimproved AK. Playing PLO at same time as NLHE makes me more willing to fold medium-strong hands. But also tends to get me chasing draws.

My biggest score of day was this discovery. This house is 3 blocks from my old house and was built the same year with the same floor plan. I sold last May for a nice chunk more than that asking price.

At bubble in PLO DS I was chipleader with 37k, anyeights was 2nd with 21k and NewarkNJGary was 3rd with 17k. I channelled Lucko and raised a lot. By the time the bubble burst 2nd had 20k and 3rd and 4th were around 9k because if 2nd stack did not raise I felt I should. Sometime after bubble burst 2nd stack disconnected and I failed to notice, I kept pounding on the 2 shorties and 2nd stack so when I took out 4th, blinds were 500/1000 and 3rd had maybe 4k chips and 2nd was 10k. NewarkNJGary was a little mad at me because I did not let him finish 2nd. Ethically it seems like collusion to allow that but sadly I did not make decision dure to ethical considerations rather I failed to notice anyeights was disconnected rather than very weak/tight. Hewas 2nd biggest stack and finished 2nd.

I will have to see if I can carry success over to Riverchasers.

Donkey play on Tuesday

I butchered a KK vs. QQ hand vs. LoveElf to exit Bodog where I waited until turn Q to jam when she already had hit set. Since it was J hi flop doubt she folds on flop but I did not give her chance to fold.

In Skillz buckhoya raised in EP, I called with some crap little connectors. Flop was 944 and I decided 99 was too small a pp to raise in EP. Either Buck is really good at PLO raising AT99 (1s) for deception or really bad. In either case I made bad read and thought trip 4s were good against EP raiser and got crippled.

In $4k I went out 40th , JT98 1s lost to AAt5 1s, I suspected I was up against AA but caught an AJ9 flop with my flush draw, know if up against AA and since the Ace on flop was my suit opponent had to also have Kc or Qc and other club for flush draw not to be good I was looking at 45% I pushed. I caught flush but board paired. Athletec (#1 in POY went out 1 spot below me).

I regrouped from my bad play in blogger events and plyed a few SNGs. I cashed 2/2 in $75 FTOPS #10 sats and then played a $33 PLO turbo.

I went out 9th but liked my decision making.

No Longer Bridesmaid

Finally after many cashes in DrPauly's PLO tourney I broke through for the victory. I laid many sick beats at the final table cacking AA in Mean Gene and I_CrackQuads hands before I dwindled to 2 BB and began comeback.

Some of my plays may appear donkish but when you look here or below you might think I have a small clue what I'm doing.

Pathetic thing is Friday night after this final table performance in the $4k I was reading bluff
to figure out how many points I earned and what it meant for standings.

The $2.5k exit was just gross, I suspected big stack was stealing but he called my preflop jam. I had QJJ9 ds he had A874 ds ( 1 live). He flopped top 2 pair and his live flush draw and I was done.

Left Mookie early when I jammed 99. Astin had raised UTG + 1. Person to my left rejammed AK confirming my suspicion that AK is never folding pre-flop in blogament. Best part of course is quote in chat "I thought Astin would snap me off with AA".
I will watch for GCox reraising Buddy or vis a versa and getting jammed by AK. I was in bad shape when JJ decided to call off their chips after that action.
Left Dookie real quickly with a bunch of missed draws and a jam into surf's AA pre.

Reality Show hierarchy

A 13 year old girl's television priorities are:

1) Miley Cyrus hosting (CMT awards I think)
2) Finales rate higher so "The Biggest Loser"
3) American Idol
4) Dancing With The Stars

Red Sox at Yankees better be over before Idol results tonight or there will be hell to pay.

CracknKK crippled me in Skillz when my 4 to flush after 4 added 4 to low + gutshot after 5th and finished with a fabulous bad 8 low no pair that lost to 44 and slightly better low that she had bet every street.

Tom Jefferson finished me off when my hidden KK J up lost to his hidden TT J up. Me being short made me too tempting as a bounty for him to fold after he had completed and I raised.

Bodog ended badly for me at the halfway point when yestbays TT rivered my AA all in pre. I had made a loose call earlier with K8s against evil wonka, wish I knew what it was but something about cadence of bet screamed weakness so I called and flopped K but turn and river QQ left me sitting with a short stack.

Tom went on to seize 2nd due to clearly either not understanding the TOC prize structure or having zero confidence in his NLHE game in making a deal with Hoy. Congrats on seat Hoy.

Muck KK on Sundays

ME Freeroll, KK lost to 86s on K84 flop, in fairness to opponent flush draw on flop.
$2.5k Guarantee PLO I bubbled FT with KKJ9 ds on button running into AAK in BB, sadly A and K on flop ended it for me.
I went out of DD B when KK lost to QQ, I flopped a King but was four flushed.

Can someone explain why QQ is such a bad holding in NLHE but every time someone commits half their stack pre with AQQ against my AA xx ds they suck out a Queen?

When does weekend start?

It is 50/50 whether I can play PLO Saturday as I am meeting up with with friends for beer and dinner in North Bay.
Congrats to RecessRampage for TOC seat, I was shorty, card dead got impatient and went out 7th with A rag. During Riverchasers I had AA, KK or QQ zero times. 1st time I had JJ I folded to raise and reaise and then saw they had KJ and AQ. Other time I had JJ I was UTG and missed hand because BB got a walk prev hand.
Have good weekend.

Just to show my versatility I asked everyone's favorite bridesmaid to load up my $3 KO performance into pokerxfactor. Despite a puff of 15 I took 2nd and lost a 44 to A2 on 2nd to last hand.

Full replay is available for those wishing to learn.
Playing the $3 KO for a pushfest proved quite ridiculous as at one point TwoBlackAces had 50k chips and I had 36k chips and next biggest stack may have been 8k. At time Iwas also playing deepstack cash and a soft capped 6-Max PLO table and quite frankly the pushfest became a distraction.
About the same time that TwoBlackAces had a table/switch fold I had some sort of misclick where instead of jamming I raised large (~5k) but had left 840 behind for one of callers. (It is hand 11 of replay). Felt that with distraction of fest taking away from cash I offered TBA a rare pushfest chop and he agreed. I probably even overpaid Fred by $7 since of course he did not send me $7 first but I will wait until next busto post to see if he agrees.
I do feel booom in table chat is sort of funny and am amused that goatboater twice called me with KQ and was pissed enough when he lost to look me up in OPR.

Skillz?

During stud 8 I got checkraised on 5th, level was 200/400 and raise was another 137.
I had A4577 (4 diamonds), raiser had A26TK and was determined to represent split Aces I guess. I bricked twice in both directions. Desperate raiser hit a T and made Final Table.

I used to think Donkette was most aptly named blogger but she has improved and I have a new leader: FishyMcDonK

FishyMcDonK showed [Th 8h Ah Js]

EP he limped this fine hand from UTG +1, Miami Don raised and holding Ac2c7h7d I decided to reraise to isolate Don who I had outchipped.

I overlooked the cutting edge O8 hand selection theory and the power of A8 for low, AJ for hi and power of 4 cards within span of 7 for hitting straight. Obviously putting in 1/4 of stack pre with obviously 2:1 true odds and Don and I providing additional 2:1 implied odds due to being short is correct move for a Fishy McDonK. Imagine my surprise when not 20 mins later this donktard was out.

Congrats to loretta8 for the final suckout of "skillz".

Riverchasers Mookie is next.

DD B reviewed and MATH angst

LJ was kind enough to load DD B in PokerXFactor , I challenge Astin to ever surpass my 96 luck factor! Sadly my factor peaked with at 98 with ~30 hands to go dooming me to 3rd.
Congrats to PokahDave for taking down MATH. It is sad that all my early efforts pwning Smokkee were undone by a jackAce snap call.

Full Tilt Server Crashed

Played Saturdays with DrPauly finishing 3rd. I was such a bad guest knocking Pauly out for the 3rd time in 6 times playing. I think I have crippled him when he has had AA hands and then eliminated him with AA hands of my own twice. Sadly despite 4 of 6 final tables I still have not closed the deal.

I did not follow this Saturday Night guide , (Drizz I am looking at you) because I had my live tourney in Morgan Hill. As craptastic as blogger events can be nothing compares to the minefield of playing a rebuy tournament in California where any two face and any 2 suited are gold. One hand I raised JJ pre only to see a nasty AQ6 (two diamond flop), I dumped hand when two callers went to felt with QT and 7d4d. Unfortunately went out 2nd level post rebuy when KK lost to QQ and then big stack tried to steal blinds with 7c6c and I was short enough in blinds to take stand with AJ. getting 3:1 button had to call jam and was rewarded with 76 small flop.

I got home in time to see the Full Tilt's servers had recovered and that I had gotten an email telling me of being awarded $37.26 in the cancelled $2.5k PLO KO. Since I was 42 of 46 remaining and 18 paid I can accept this payout but a review of my past PLO tourneys would indicate I was "in position" for a deep run.

At 11:46 pacific $20k guarantee Turbo Hundred had 76 players registered thinking "huge overlay" due to server problems I signed up. Apparently 193 other people thought the same thing and 269 of us began play. I doubled up early when a K8 unimproved jammed turn into my top set of Js and managed to stay in Top 25 rest of tournament until with 35 left I jammed KK into AA. I think I have managed to run KK into AA 11 times in the last week and despite huge quantity of poker I play I don't play enough to justify 11 occurrences.

MSNBC was airing Mistaken Identity as I busted out of Hundo so I was trapped watching late into night. Until they showed the picture of Whitney with her face swollen and eyes closed 10 days after accident I was like "how did they not know". But with all the swelling she did not look predominantly like either healthy girl.

Sunday I awoke at crack of 1, I was not psyched for the Sunday donkey play but did decide to wade into the early doubles and $2.5k PLO. PLO was a quick FCD beat my set exit but despite me making a horrendously donkey call early in early double B, I came back from 340 chips for a double cash.

This inspired me to try the original Daily Double. DD A saw a quick exit but in B I got some chips early and was a top 20 stack most of tourney. With 36 left I was 4th in chips (but 4th at my table), after a couple of exits I was the one moved and found myself as a 150k stack when next at table was 50k. Having watched Lucko and LJ bully tables in past I was giving it a try with smaller raises to steal the blinds but one time I got lazy raising with 88 and clicked bet pot, player after me jammed and I was thinking fawk but was getting 2:1 on my money to call. Since I am math based I made call hoping for a race but instead saw KK.

I play so good. I also manged to lose a decent size pot with 88 to an UTG raiser on a Q 6 4 flop when raiser showed QT. During 4th or 5th break LJ and I had a quick discussion on bet sizing and I of course listened because she seems to understand how to run deep better than most and bid her a good night. Coming out of break I raised the 1st 4 hands, AQ (Q hi flop), AK (no action), 99 QT9 flop all spades (eww but took down 3 way flop with pot bet) and TT. SB (rookiejim) apparently had enough of my raising and jammed with A8o and was rewarded with river Ace.

After next break and many eliminated players later rookiejim minraised UTG and I had 88 in BB. Rookiejim had shown a tendency not to lay down an Ace pre so I jammed and this time he had AA to take me out.

MATH is tonight

An Apology is in order

Today waffles outed Astin which caused a loss of workplace productivity.

I remembered that as a response to BWOP's April Fools post there was a comment:

Astin said...
Rumour is that white is the new black, and straight is the new gay. I don't know where these rumours start. Certainly not here.

I suddenly was thinking OMG is that idiot waffles correct? Have I possibly offended Astin with my later response:

bayne_s said...
I guess waffles calling me fag does not override my agreeing with the late great Sam Kinison on "How can a man look at another man's hairy ass and find love? OWWW OWWW"

It is fine for others to be gay, and congratulations Astin for coming out of closet in comments to waffles and accepting your lesbian nature. I am sure waffles is willing to provide a forum for gay and lesbian announcements and it will not impact way I treat any of you (other than occaisonal or additional requests for girl on girl porn from some).

Yesterday in my post I was still a little tilty as I had gotten off to a good start in blogger cash, then made a couple of calls when I knew I was beat, a couple of shoves when I knew I was beat and quoted someone calling fuel a "cocksucker"

This was wrong.

Fuel's decision on sucking cock has no impact on his poker play. And I apologize to anyone that I may have offended. Calling fuel a "fa g", "homo" or "mallard fucker" in past was also wrong.

Fish, lucksack donkey, moron, idiot, loser, donator, dumbass, ATM, fishcakes or fucktard would have been better choices and I will strive to always refer to Fuel in the future using proper poker based insults.

I apologise in advance to the kinder gentler blogoshere members for future fuel inspired outbursts.

No More G rating

Went out of $4k when my flopped top set, 2nd flush draw ran into nut flush draw that hit.

Went out of Mookie at midway point, 1st KQs jammed my BB and I felt priced in with AA. Rivered flush left me short before my table move.
Blinds 100/200 I have 420 behind when Al raises hammer from SB, I have mellowed over time but when BB is priced in to call with ATC is a hammer raise a good idea?
This time it was because although my 2 cards were 8+ a 7 hit river and I was done.

Somehow I won Dookie, I was shorty a long time but it is my normal path to PLO victory.

Played blogger cash for a little while but was tilty, one time I flopped a set it was against shorty flopped straight.
This exchange happened after fuel button raised a hammer and ended up cracking KK.

Bayne: fuel ran away
Bayne: so now I will not be trying to lay bad beat
Anonymous: cocksucker
Anonymous: and i can quit playing. no money is sweeter than his.

On posisitve side:
Donkette: are we half in the cash game????
Donkette: see we are ahead
Bayne: I topped off
Donkette: damn we are way ahead now

So on positive half my losses are covered.

Eventually my tilt spiral led me here:

Latest Prop Bet

Bayne: why have I made more money in each of my BBT cashes than you have made total?
sirfwalgman: luck?
sirfwalgman: i will defeat you
sirfwalgman: in both rankings
sirfwalgman: AND
sirfwalgman: cash
Bayne: side bet on the cash?
Bayne: all I hear is crickets
sirfwalgman: lol
sirfwalgman: ok
sirfwalgman: when is BBT3 over?
sirfwalgman: like 10 weeks?
sirfwalgman: lol
sirfwalgman: 50 bucks says I P@WN you in both stats
Bayne: I win if I win either?
sirfwalgman: yes
Bayne: it is bet
sirfwalgman: your doomed

He had to end it with "your" instead of "you're".

Seems like easy money, I only have to win one of 2 categories, I am currently 71.5 behind in points but $692.78 ahead in cash.

Waffles tilt is so easy to exploit, is it wrong that I have used altruisitic Hoy Synopsis to profit in this manner?

4th Circle

In order to avoid fully entering the 4th Circle of Poker Blogging Hell I will attempt to include some positive comments about play and change the names of players involved in plays that offended.

IcrushBloggers (he is anonymous so no need to change name) eliminated me from Bodonkey last night. I jammed from cutoff for ~1310 (150/300 blinds) he called from BB with 98o and rivered a straight. Since he was getting 2:1 on money and I don't remember what % of his stack was involved in call I am left with thought nice call.

There was going to be screen shot of PTO here but yet again you could not expand pic. Why does this not work for me?

Stats for year:
8/16 2000 hands +$900
3/6 1200 hands -$536
2/4 700 hands -$300

I pulled up my PokerTracker stats for the year playing 8/16, 3/6 and 2/4 O8. It might be I am more familar with the 8/16 pool of players to explain why the profitable level is 8/16 but I believe the unpredictability of bad players disrupts my O8 play.

This would not bode well for skills game:

I had AA cracked by such stellar hands as AKT7 and K332. It was made worse in that the K332 hand saw an 24J flop which looked real good to my AA56 ds and that is a terrible flop for the K332 until the K turn and Q river bails it out.

My frustration led me to limp from EP with 2467.

I was rewarded with an excellent flop for my POS shit so I bet flop after it was checked to me and IronGirl was the only caller. The Jd was not card on turn I was looking for but at least it gave me flush draw so after an IG checked I bet again. I hated the river but knew that only way to win was bet, IG folded and miracle of miracles I had seen a blogger fold in Skillz O8.

Most frustrating hand of night was one where blogger (henceforth negEVHi) limped, I raised my AA58 ds, player to my right (henceforth negEVlo) called it folded around to negEVHi and he called.

Flop was 4s6s6x.
negEVHi checked.

I bet since I had nut flush draw.

negEVlo raised.
negEVHi raised.

Since I know a hand with 3 wheel cards and a 6 will see a lot of flops with only 3 involved the possibility of trip 6s is non zero nor is a flopped boat. Since I am not drawing to nut low I prudently fold.

negEVlo raises capping.

I believe turn also saw a capped betting round (sdly no hand history but I believe it was a 9)

River 5s saw a check from negEVHi a bet from negEVlo and call from negEVHi.

Cards come up and I am stunned to see neither of these 2 has a 6.
Neither of these 2 has 44.
Neither of these 2 has a flush draw.
Neither of these 2 has a wrap.

They capped the flop because negEVlo had A23, negEVHi had KK and 3 bet flop with 2 pair.
Hopefully negEVHi learned something about what a POS hand KKxx is in O8

Having folded best hand on flop and rivered flush against these 2 put me on such HoyTilt that I chased down a boat against Rakefeeder. In my defense I think his checkraising me on the flop priced me in, especially since I was sure he would lead out on paired board on turn or river.
