I work at the bottom left of the 'N' in Nimitz Freeway.
Quake was only 4.2 but epicenter is only 6 miles away but it still felt like riding in a truck with bad shocks. Being long term California I of course rose to my feet to surf it.
Hope everything is okay. Quick question: You ever play in poker rooms around Monterey? I'll be there Jan 17 for a week and was looking at Banker's Casino, Moritmer's and Marina Club. I'm wondering whether you have any input on any of them, seeing that you're close to that area.
Thanks for the input. I hadn't realized that I'm not "that" far from a real casino (assuming they're still standing, given the recent seismic activity). I get in on Sunday at around 2:00. I should have plenty of time to dump my stuff and head out. Perhaps I will wind up going to Garden City afterall. From my hotel in Seaside, CA, it looks like it'll be about 1 hour 15 minutes. I'm assuming Garden City is better than Bay 101 - is that correct? Is there action on a Sunday mid-day?
I think Garden City is better for action but my live play is mainly in a once/month tourney/game. The people in my monthly game all play Garden City instead of Bay 101
Is this the Bayne Steele who worked at Star Technologies back in the 80s? If so, found your site when watching a Ga. Tech vs. Duke hoop game and thought about our old debates. I see we have love of golf and poker in common. Either way...take it easy and good luck on the tables and links.

4.2 is a bumpy truck ride but not off road.
I have never played poker in Monterey, but when I drive that far family wants to see beach. Bay 101 is 3 miles and Garden City is 6 miles.
Any aftershocks?
How far is Monterey (realistically in traffic) from Garden City or Bay 101?
Monterey to Bay 101 is 1 hour and 15-45 minutes.
