Injustice at the Mookie

At the Mookie this week 83 runners sat down and played down to 8. Since there was no October 8 promotion preparing everyone for this scenario the BCS decided Pauly was the winner.

Pauly was kind enough to provide me the data I was curious about:
When a tournament is cancelled after it reaches the money, according to tournament rule 31.3:

* All remaining players will have their tournament fee of $1.00 refunded and be awarded with the next guaranteed payout of the tournament, $33.20.

* The remaining prize pool will be divided and distributed according to chip count - (Remaining Prize Pool)*(Your Chip Count)/(Total Chips in Play) = Your Share of Remaining Prize Pool.

In your case, this means $551.95*104891/249000=$232.40
Tournament Fee Refunded: $1.00+ Next Guaranteed Payout: $33.20+ Your Share of Remaining Prize Pool: $232.40
Total Amount Credited to Your Account: $266.60

I looked at Tilt's tourney payout page and saw that for 83 runners 1st should get 32%.

.32*83*$10 = $265.60

So WTF is it right that Pauly gets more than 1st Place Money?????????

As someone who has rightfully earned a reputation as a roach, and had strangers call me a roach, I think it is unfortunate to be denied a chance to win a tournament on felt (real or virtual) while you still have chips. But don't think there is a better way to award TOC seat.

Now everyone go give Hoy a hug so he'll feel better.

Wasn't there an instance one time where they set up a new tournament for those who were still in it and reloaded the chip count accordingly...?
